field " behaviour in seven mice species ( Muridaez Apodemus , Mus )
نویسنده
چکیده
Open-field behaviour was recorded during 6-min forced exploration tests. In total, 483 tests were pedormed for following mice species: Apodemus agrarius, A.microps, A.sylvaticus, A.flavicollis, A.mystacinus, Mus musculus, M.domesticus and F1 hybrids of the last two species. Considerable variation among species was found for most behavioural patterns recorded. High level of number of squares crossed, rearing and time spent in activity was found in A.mystacinus, while low level was found in A.agrarius. Sylvaemus and Mus species showed intermediary values.

Owl Pellet Avoidance in Yellow-necked Mice Apodemus Flavicollis and House Mice Mus Musculus
Owls feed mainly on rodents, which may harbour a diverse set of pathogen species. Their pellets often contain undigested body parts of the prey that may also contain viable rodent pathogens. Therefore, avoiding pellets may serve to reduce pathogen transmission in rodents. Alternatively, rodents may also avoid pellets as a form of predator avoidance, since pellets are likely to indicate owl pres...
متن کاملTula virus in populations of small terrestrial mammals in a rural landscape.
Over 5 years (2000-2004), populations of small mammals from a rural landscape in southern Moravia (Czech Republic) were investigated for the presence of Tula virus (TULV) antigen using the ELISA set Hantagnost. In total, 1566 individuals from 10 species were examined. The prevalence in the common vole (Microtus arvalis Pallas 1778), the main reservoir of TULV, was 10% (n = 871). The prevalence ...
متن کاملAbsence of spermatozoal CD46 protein expression and associated rapid acrosome reaction rate in striped field mice (Apodemus agrarius)
BACKGROUND In rodents, the cell surface complement regulatory protein CD46 is expressed solely on the spermatozoal acrosome membrane. Ablation of the CD46 gene is associated with a faster acrosome reaction. Sperm from Apodemus flavicollis (yellow-necked field mice), A. microps (pygmy field mice) and A. sylvaticus (European wood mice) fail to express CD46 protein and exhibit a more rapid acrosom...
متن کاملThe role of myomorphous mammals as reservoirs of leptospira in the pedunculate oak forests of Croatia
In the year 2000, three hundred and eighty-one animals werw caught in 11 locations in the pedunculate oak forests extending across the wider region of the Sava River valley, an area known as an old natural focus of leptospires. Two hundred and twenty-seven animals were investigated for leptospiral carriership, 381 were tested for the existence of specific antibodies to leptospira. Through culti...
متن کاملA Karyological Study of Some Murid Rodents (Rodentia: Muridae) of Iran
Family Muridae consists of eight genera and 28 species in Iran. This family shows notable variability of karyological features. In this study, karyological data derived from 11 species of 7 genera of this family of Iran are presented and compared with previously published accounts. The included species were: Mus musculus musculus from Gonbad (2n=40, FN=40) and Birjand (2n=40, FN=38), Rattus nor...
